For Dare County Commissioner

I care deeply about the people of Dare County and appreciate you taking the time to view this website. I humbly ask for your vote in the upcoming election so I can continue to serve you as a Dare County Commissioner.

In these challenging times, it is important that we move into the future in a way that preserves the quality of life that we enjoy here in Dare County. This will continue to be my public service mission. I pledge to continue working for you in an open, transparent way that is fiscally conservative and responsible. I believe, this is what you deserve.

Democracy only works when people vote. So, regardless of which candidate you may prefer, I want to encourage you to exercise your right to vote in the upcoming election.

The success of our community depends on us all working together. Especially during these challenging times, it is vital that we lift each other up with prayer and compassion. No matter what issue we face, we need to listen to each other. That’s why I invite you to contact me personally. Please let me know what is on your mind and how I can serve you. Email me on this site or at woodard@darenc.com. Also, please feel free to call my cell phone at 252-216-8240.

Platform

Serving our Community & Citizens

Limited Spending

I pledge to continue being a careful and diligent steward of every taxpayer dollar. You work hard and your tax dollars deserve to be spent in a careful and conservative way. We must spend based on actual “needs” instead of “wants.” This is true now more than ever so we can safeguard Public Safety and Public Health as we move through these changing and challenging times.

Philosophy

We must preserve and enhance the quality of life we enjoy here in Dare County. This is essential. Whether is continuing to fight against offshore drilling or making sure our children are safe and well educated, I will continue to safeguard our community so it will always be a great place to live, work, and raise a family.

Accessibility

I will continue to have an “open door” policy for every citizen of Dare County. I sincerely want to hear your thoughts, concerns, and suggestions. That is why I have always provided voters with my cell phone number so I can be reached anytime you need me. And, I promise that I will continue to respond to every email or phone call in a timely and responsive manner.

Community & County Forums

Government works best when its hard-working citizens have the opportunity to speak and be heard. Since my first day as a Dare County Commissioner, I have championed the cause of conducting bi-annual community forums throughout the County. These forums are important and must be continued so the Board of Commissioners can get valuable first-hand citizen input. This helps us make sound decisions in a way that will serve the good of the entire community.
